Angry Video Game Nerd (Episode 92)
Game Glitches

We all know that feeling. That feeling of putting a game in your system, waiting for it to boot up, and being greeted with a screen of mismatched pixels and distorted sounds. That feeling of trying again and again, and only getting even worse on-screen insanity. It gets us all mad, enraged even, but what happens when the angriest gamer in the world starts getting them?

What ensues is a trippy adventure with the Angry Video Game Nerd and the king of annoying people all over the world, the Glitch Gremlin, as they battle it out to see whether the Nerd can finally get a game to work. From Metal Gear to Mega Man, Punch-Out to Pac-Man, the battle rages until the Gremlin’s biggest weakness is revealed: common cleaning supplies.

But even though the Gremlin is temporarily defeated, he breaks through his retro gaming prison, even turning more modern games into shocking abominations, and even the Nerd’s own basement isn’t safe from his destructive rampage!

  1. On Super Mario 3 you can kill the litte floating ball things in the castle. You have to get above them and use the tanooki suit to turn into a statue and fall on them. They die. Its pretty neat.

  2. he's gonna take you back to the past to play this shitty game and suck ass he rather have a buffalo take a diarrhea dump in his is ears he's the angry video game nerd

  3. you know what how about we just play some super mario galaxy 2
i like homing ground pounding the button near the wheel on starship mario
and now i'm stuck in the wheel bobing up and down so fast i dont think it would look the same at 30fps
looks like i'm going to have to save and quit and go back to 4 lives
well at least i have acsses to an infinite lives trick in supermassive galaxy

but really i acctualy got stuck like that once

  4. Some game-ending glitches:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii) – After completing Twilight Princess' second dungeon, you will cross the Eldin Bridge. The twilight creatures teleport it away to the desert. If you save and quit before crossing into the next area, Link will respawn on the south side with the bridge gone and all hope of ever advancing gone as well. This has been corrected on the Wii U HD version.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii) – A second game-ending glitch is in the big cannon room. Save and quit before talking to Shad, and he will be gone forever with any chance of getting to the Sky Temple.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii) – During the "Song of the Hero" quest, you have the option of completing all 3 quests in any order. In Lanayru Desert, you will eventually meet a Goron, whom will be essential to completing the Faron Woods quest. If you speak to him in Lanayru Desert before meeting him in Faron Woods, he will not be in Faron Woods at all, and you can never complete the game! This one is most painful since it takes place so late in the game. It has been corrected by a patch and on the Wii U HD version.

Playstation Underground Holiday 2004 Demo Disc – Insert this disc into your Playstation 2 and play the "Viewful Joe 2" demo with any memory cards, and the cards will be wiped! Game over!

Star Trek: The Next Generation (SNES) – Early copies of the game were impossible to complete (without a password) due to a glitch in one of the later levels where you could not cross a chasm. This was corrected in later releases of the cartridge, but the version I played had this glitch.

Donkey Kong 64 – use a game shark, and I've read that the cartridge will be fried forever. Most likely not a glitch since Nintendo hated the use of "game-enhancement" devices like Game Genie and Game Shark.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest – In the stage "Castle Crush," if Diddy Kong (not Dixie) picks up a DK barrel, drops it, and then picks it up again, the barrel will shatter, yet Diddy will still have the animation of him holding the barrel. If you "throw" the missing barrel and then move, then the game will freeze. It can delete your entire save files or corrupt the cartridge.
